Should dads make their kids laugh every day? Laughter may seem like a small part of parenting, but it can have a meaningful effect on your child’s stress, confidence, and relationship with you.
In this episode of Fathering Our Future, I explain why creating moments of joy belongs in the daily rhythm of Christian fatherhood. Using Scripture, research on laughter and human connection, and a personal story from my own home, I examine what happens when a dad is willing to put down his responsibilities for a moment and simply have fun with his children.
Laughter will not solve every parenting problem. Dads still need to correct, discipline, teach, and lead. But our children should associate our presence with more than rules and serious conversations. They should know that Dad enjoys being with them.
Your willingness to tell a joke, share a funny story, play a ridiculous game, or look a little foolish can communicate something every child needs to believe: “My dad loves me, values me, and wants to spend time with me.”
Listen to discover why dads should make their kids laugh every day and how something as simple as laughter can strengthen your relationship with your children.
